The day has finally come!
My novel The Closeted Life of Hartel will be released on eBook and paperback this Thursday, July 23rd via Amazon!
I’ve worked so, so hard for this! I’ve spent countless hours practicing the craft of writing over the last few years, writing four and a half books. This book I will be self-publishing is the most recent book I’ve written and it’s a dream come true to finally see this book be set out into the world and into people’s hands. I am so fricken thrilled for y’all to hear Claude and Jim’s story.
Anyways, here’s some random thoughts:
-There have been a ton of people asking about how they can assist Adan and I in our surrogacy journey. As you all know, it’s extremely expensive. In fact, we are getting our donor’s frozen eggs delivered from California to Wisconsin this week. That cost almost $25,000. If you’ve read that blog you’ll remember that I’ve thought about making wine and selling it to help with the surrogacy costs. But then I realized this week…Why sell wine when I already write books? In other words, I’m going to try and utilize our surrogacy goals when selling this book. The money I make on this book WILL help us a lot! And so now people can give aid by also getting my book. It’s a win-win for everybody!
-There will be a contest announced on the release date (which is this Thursday, July 23rd.) Get ready readers! Yay!
-I’m currently working on creating an email list. I have heard that this is the most important way a “small business” can make revenue. It helps build excitement and keeps customers returning to your product. We shall see how this goes cause I have no idea what I am doing!
-Speaking of revenue…I’ll just be honest with y’all…I do not have high expectations for this book pulling in a substantial amount of money. Most self-published authors do not start making a livable income until they have several books released. I am ready for this reality and am honest with my own expectations. I will need to keep teaching. I will need to keep writing. Luckily, my next book seems somewhat close to being published. The hustle will continue. Perhaps it will never end. I suppose I am trying to not think about the money aspect of this adventure. I’m focusing on the excitement of completing a lifelong goal…I finished writing a book! And it’s a good one that I’ve polished for perfection. I cannot wait for the world to hear this story!
